Meet our new mechanic – Brad Clark

Hi all –  we thought we would take the opportunity to introduce our new mechanic Brad Clark. Brad has been with us coming up on 3 months and getting some rave reviews on his work. He has been going the extra mile to address the little things that would become a problem for a customer later, and much to the appreciation from our customers. Now while Brad has been doing a fantastic job, we wanted to tell you a little about our humble mechanic.

imageBrad is a 41 year old veteran of the industry. He commenced working in bike shops as a kid helping out. He has built up over 30 years working in and around bike shops, and has seen more things than most of us. From a shop boy, he is now our mechanic. Brad has 9 bikes of his own. He has a Specialised Enduro Pro MTB, a Celeste Bianchi running a traditional Campagnolo groupset, but his pure joy is his Trek Boone CX bike. He is only too happy to have a discussion about unique requirements or explain why a problem may be re-occurring for our customers.

Lets dig a little deeper. Lets look at Brad, the cyclist. Brad has experience in most disciplines in cycling. He has competed in road, MTB, triathlon and now enjoys the atmosphere of competing in CX. He has been pretty successful over the journey. In one year he was ranked in the top 10 in the state on the Road, MTB and Triathlon series. Handy! He has won several club championships in the past at his old club down at Warragul in Gippsland. He even has a result, beating our 2011 Tour de France champion, Cadel Evans, in a MTB race. Yeah we know, well before Cadel was a TdF champion, but how many of us can claim that one. These days the type of racing that excites Brad are “bike packing” events like the Indian Pacific Wheel Race, starting 18th March and travelling some 5,500kms from Fremantle to Sydney. A solo odyssey indeed.

Most importantly we asked Brad how he likes his coffee. “STRONG !!” came the answer. Just like his work as our bike mechanic. Next time you are in the shop introduce yourself or have a chat to him about the work on your bike. Like us you are likely to be impressed.

Keep up the great work Brad.

Cervelo S3 Di2 Disc – Uber cool

Cervelo are truly a world leader when it comes to creating fast bikes. The aerodynamic S Series bikes are recognised as one of the best aerodynamic frames ever built. It doesn’t matter whether you are a racer, hill climber, beach rd cruiser or just a ride a couple of times a week kind of rider, this bike has something for you. With the introduction of disc brakes, this bike is now, even better!

Cervelo-S3-Disc_disc-brake-carbon-aero-road-race-bike_angledThis is a bike that needs to be ridden to be believed!

While all the same properties of the world championship winning S3 are still maintained in this frame, the 2017 model has been improved to be stronger and stiffer and ultimately faster! Dropping the constraints imposed by rim braking technology, the new frame is 40g lighter, 9% stiffer and therefore saves watts at the same speed as previous S3 frames.

All of this translates to superior handling and control, giving you the confidence to pull away from the peloton or put the hurt on your Saturday morning group ride.

So what do we get in this package. You get the world class and world beating Cervelo S3 Frame with a tapered S3 fork to suit disc brakes. Patented Cervelo aero carbon seat post and integrated handlebars and computer mount, FSA SLK (52-36) crank set combining with Ultegra Di2 to make up the remainder of a groupset that sings like an angelic choir. All of this amazing package rolls on a set of ENVE SES 3.4 wheels assembled especially for Cervelo.

You need to come in store and talk to us about this bike and a take this out for a short test ride. You will love it.

How long since your last bike fit?

IMG_0115_100pcWe love riding our bikes. We ride them as often as we are able. One thing that we don’t necessarily notice while we are riding is changes in our own power, strength or flexibility.

Everyone wants to feel comfortable or go fast; or both. Improvements or decline in any of these areas, or an injury that has been sustained will change your ability to get the most speed or comfort out of your ride.

Changes in any of these elements, can lead to a need for a bike fit.

The Guru

It doesn’t matter whether you are a road cyclist, mountain biker, commuter or just like to cruise the bike paths, an athlete or just a casual rider, the need for a bike fit is the same.

A good fit gets the most of what you want out of the bike and lowers the chance of sustaining a repetitive injury.

A poor bike fit can lead to upper back/shoulder injury, lower back/hip injury or knee injuries just to list a few. This will probably lead to multiple trips to the physiotherapist.

Our staff have collectively over 20 years of bike fitting experience, coupled with our state of the art in store technology to deliver you the most comfortable or fast set up on the bike. Most of all we know how a great bike fit should feel. We know what most riders want and we aim to deliver that with our bike fits. So for little more than two trips to a physio, we can give you the bike fit that suits your needs.

Check out our bike fit system online and book a session with one of our bike fit staff here

Power Sale – Amazing deals

Power Meters & using power as a means to measure your effort is universally recognised as the best measure of your training intensity. We recommend that if you are trying to get stronger and more powerful on the bike – these are great tools to help you reach your goals.

We have some amazing deals on power products in store at the moment. With crank, chainring and pedal power meters in store we have something that will suit most buyers. We have Powertap and Infocrank models in store. Stock is definitely limited and once these amazing items are gone

InfoCrank power meter

infocrank-power-meter-763We have two sets of these amazing Verve InfoCrank power meters (RRP $1950) in store at 50% off. InfoCrank is loved by the pros and Institutes, but in reality it was designed for cyclists like yourself who want to improve their cycling performance. We often hear that InfoCrank works so well, day in day out, that cyclists forget it’s on their bike. The InfoCrank convinced British Cycling, who recently signed a deal to make the InfoCrank their power meter of choice for the foreseeable future – and when watt-obsessed British Cycling put their faith in a power meter, it’s time to sit up and take note

Head in and check them out in the shop today as they will not last too long.

Switchbacks - Italy 2014

Switchbacks – Italy 2014

Our tourists will then head to the town of Bormio at the foot of both the Passo Gavia & the Cima Coppi for 2017, the Passo Stelvio. The Stelvio is one of those near the top of a bucket list riding experiences. Starting out in Bormio, the climb is on from the word go. We travel through snow tunnels along the mountain side before reaching some of the famed switchbacks, that symbolise this climb. Rising to over 2750m above sea level, this is a true monster of a climb and one that provides the ultimate in satisfaction. Our tourists will get an amazing day, as the Giro will pass through Bormio when they are in town, tackling the Stelvio Pass, not once but twice, before a flying descent to the finish back in Bormio. This is just one of those days that will sit in the memory of those by the roadside forever.
